Police Sergeant Charged with Rape Over 2009 Incidents
Police Sergeant David Stansbury, 42, from Ilminster, Somerset, now with Hertfordshire Police, faces three rape charges involving a woman aged 16 or over.
Alleged Crimes Dating Back to 2009
The alleged assaults took place in Plymouth in 2009 while Stansbury was on duty with Devon & Cornwall Police. The case only came to light in September 2020 and has been under investigation since.
Current Status: Suspended and Under Investigation
- Stansbury served with Devon & Cornwall Police from 2009 to 2011.
- He is now suspended from duty with Hertfordshire Police as the probe continues.
