Man Found Dead in Skelmersdale After Kidnap

Christopher Hughes, 37, was found dead off White Moss Road South in Skelmersdale, Lancashire on Tuesday 22 February 2022. A post mortem revealed he died from multiple serious injuries.

Family Pay Emotional Tribute

Christopher’s mother, Susan, said: “The family of Chris wish everyone to respect their privacy at this difficult time and are heartbroken at the loss of their loving son, father, brother and uncle. He will leave a part in the family that can never be filled. RIP Christopher David Hughes.”

Kidnap Witnessed Days Before Death

On Friday 18 February, shortly after 4.30pm, a member of the public spotted a man being forced into a vehicle on Almond Grove in Worsley Hall, Wigan. Police believe this was Christopher. An investigation was launched and extensive searches took place before his body was discovered four days later at 11am.

Three Men Arrested – Police Appeal for Information

Three men aged 29, 48, and 51 have been arrested in connection with Christopher’s kidnap and death. They remain in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Carl Jones of GMP’s Major Incident Team said:

“Our thoughts are with Christopher’s loved ones at this time. Specially trained colleagues are supporting them while we work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the frenzied attack which led to his death.”

The investigation continues with support from Lancashire Police. DCI Jones urged anyone with information to come forward, especially those who saw Christopher on Friday before 4.30pm or witnessed suspicious activity in Wigan’s Almond Grove area or Skelmersdale’s White Moss between 4.45pm and 6pm.
