Man Charged After Attempted Murder in Smallford Shooting
A 21-year-old man has been charged following an attempted murder in Smallford, near St Albans.
Targeted Attack Leaves Man Injured
Police rushed to a Springfield Road home just after 3pm on Tuesday 24 March after reports of a shooting. A 37-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was taken to hospital, treated, and later discharged.
Major Crime Unit Cracks the Case
The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit launched an investigation. On Wednesday 13 May, officers executed a warrant in Redbourn, arresting two suspects.
- Michael Clark, 21, from Ver Meadows, Redbourn, has been charged with attempted murder and firearm possession.
- A 16-year-old boy, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, was released under investigation as enquiries continue.
Clark was remanded in custody and appeared in court on Friday 15 May.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
“We understand incidents like this cause alarm, but this was a targeted attack involving people who are known to each other,” said Detective Inspector Justine Jenkins, leading the inquiry. “We continue to investigate and urge anyone with information to get in touch.”
