Hero Cop Stops Christmas Wreath Arson in Arnold
Police were gearing up to search a property in Duke Street, Arnold, when one officer’s sharp eyes caught a man acting suspiciously nearby. The culprit was caught red-handed trying to torch a Christmas wreath on a neighbour’s front door!
Quick-Thinking Officer Prevents Blaze
As she closed in, the officer spotted him flicking a lighter at the wreath. She swiftly stepped in to stop the flames before they could take hold. With backup from colleagues, they detained the 33-year-old on the spot.
Man Arrested and Bailed as Police Probe Incident
- Arrested for suspected criminal damage and possession of an article intended to cause damage
- Bailed with conditions pending further inquiries
- Incident occurred just after midnight on 11 December
“This was an excellent example of officers being alert to what’s happening around them,” said Sgt Graham Whitt, Nottinghamshire Police. “A very serious incident may have been averted. Setting fire to property can have catastrophic consequences, which is why we treat incidents like this very seriously.”
