Violent attacker Dean Johnson jailed for life over savage Newcastle stabbing
Deadly Flat Visit Ends in Bloodbath
Dean Johnson, 52, has been handed a life sentence for the brutal murder of Paul Wilkinson at his flat in Walker, Newcastle. What began as a casual visit on December 3 quickly spiralled into a nightmare. Wilkinson, 47, was stabbed multiple times in the chest and stomach without any warning or provocation.
Emergency Services Arrive, But It’s Too Late
Paramedics and police raced to the scene, but Paul Wilkinson was pronounced dead at his Church Walk flat. Northumbria Police’s Major Investigation Team immediately arrested Johnson, charging him with murder.
Guilty Plea Secures Life Sentence
At Newcastle Crown Court in April, Johnson pleaded guilty. Today, the grim sentence was passed down, reflecting the savage nature of the attack.
“This has been such a distressing time for Paul’s loved ones, and we hope today offers them their first step towards the closure they deserve,” said Northumbria Police. “No sentence can bring Paul back, but Johnson’s punishment reflects the gravity of his horrific actions and the devastation he caused.”
The force added, “There is never an excuse for violence or knife crime. We are doing everything possible to tackle this vile criminality.”
