Paedophile Jailed for Raping Pre-Teen Girl, Leaving Her Traumatised
A vile paedophile who raped a pre-teen girl and “robbed her of her childhood” has been locked up. Anthony Churton, 35, from Leigh, left his young victim so traumatised she began pulling her hair out and banging her head against walls.
Victim’s Mental Health Shattered
The girl, under 13, told her family she “doesn’t want to be here anymore” and has expressed suicidal thoughts. Following the horrific ordeal, she has been referred for urgent mental health counselling.
Her family revealed how she now refuses to leave the house — not even to go to school or the toilet alone. “She has not slept for months. Around three weeks after the attack, she asked how someone could commit suicide,” her loved ones said in a heartbreaking statement.
Judge Condemns ‘Tragic and Severe’ Emotional Harm
Bolton Crown Court heard Churton was under the influence of drugs and alcohol during the attack. Judge Graeme Smith described the emotional trauma as “both tragic and severe”.
“She has self-harmed, attended mental health counselling, and spoken about suicide. Taking alcohol and drugs is no excuse for such outrageous conduct.”
Nine Years Behind Bars and Strict Orders
Churton pleaded guilty to two counts of raping a child under 13. He was sentenced to nine years in prison and hit with a restraining order and sexual harm prevention order to keep him away from the victim.
This devastating case shines a harsh light on the terrible consequences of child abuse and the lifelong scars it leaves.
