Teacher and Partner Jailed for Horrific Child Abuse in Wigan

Julie Morris, 44, a safeguarding lead at a Wigan primary school, has been jailed for 13 years after filming herself abusing and raping a girl under 13. Her partner, 52-year-old David Morris from St Helens, received a 16-year sentence for similar offences.

Chilling Details of Abuse Revealed in Court

The sickening videos showed Julie Morris giggling as the abuse took place. The charges are not connected to her job at St George’s Central C of E Primary School in Wigan. David Morris had already admitted 34 offences at an earlier hearing.

“It truly appears like both of them were equally involved,” said district crown prosecutor Damion Lloyd.

“They’ve formed this horrendous sexual interest in the victim and acted out their sick fantasies.

“Their relationship was a self-feeding cycle, pushing each other to worse acts.”

In 20 years of prosecuting, Lloyd called this the “pinnacle” of depraved behaviour.

The Charges Laid Bare

  • Julie Morris: Two counts of rape; nine counts of inciting sexual activity with a child under 13; two counts of sexual activity in presence of a child; three counts of taking indecent images; one count of sexual communication with a child; one count of possessing indecent images.
  • David Morris: Seven counts of rape; 13 counts of inciting sexual activity with a child under 13; two counts of sexual activity in presence of a child; taking, possessing and distributing indecent images (categories A, B and C); two counts of sexual communication with a child; three counts of voyeurism; possession of extreme and prohibited pornographic images.

This appalling abuse has sent shockwaves through the Wigan community, casting a dark shadow over those tasked with protecting children.
