Teen Found Guilty of Manslaughter in Parsons Green Stabbing
Abdallah Awil, 19, from SW6, has been found guilty of manslaughter following a brutal stabbing in Parsons Green. Originally charged with murder and grievous bodily harm, Awil was acquitted of these but faced a retrial for manslaughter after the first jury was hung.
Deadly Attack Sparks Shock in SW6
The violent incident unfolded on the evening of 11 February 2021. Police were called to Ackmar Road where 18-year-old Hani Solomon was found with a fatal stab wound to his chest. Despite paramedics’ efforts, Hani died at the scene. CCTV footage revealed Awil and two other teenagers—Yousef Chamint, 19, and Ahmed Fatah, 20—waiting for Hani before confronting him and his friends near Parsons Green tube station. A verbal clash escalated into violence when the group chased Hani down Ackmar Road, leading to the fatal stabbing.
Co-Defendants Plead Guilty, Sentencing Looms
Chamint and Fatah both pleaded guilty to manslaughter prior to Awil’s retrial. The trio will be sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court, with the date set for February 2023. Reporting restrictions were lifted only after Awil’s verdict.
Family Devastated by Senseless Violence
Detective Chief Inspector Vicky Tunstall, leading the investigation, condemned the attack as “completely senseless,” describing how the three arrived armed and intent on violence.
“This was a senseless attack on an 18-year-old with his whole life ahead of him,” she said. “His family and girlfriend are left distraught and haunted by what happened. None of the defendants have shown real remorse. They now face significant jail sentences and will be stopped from causing further harm.”
At the 2021 trial’s end, Hani’s mother, Aster Hagos, gave a heart-wrenching tribute:
“I never imagined holding a vigil on my son’s 19th birthday instead of celebrating. Hani had dreams and plans that will never come true. My life has ended without him—I simply exist. His laughter and joy filled every room, but now he’s gone. Since his death, I cry alone and have become a recluse. My family is destroyed, and I wish I could have been there to comfort him in his last moments.”
