Arsonist Caught on Camera as Shed Goes Up in Flames

Tyrone Ludlow, 35, was spotted on doorbell camera footage approaching his victim’s home in Gravesend, carrying a petrol can. Moments later, a massive explosion ripped through the garden shed, destroying the outbuilding in flames.

Sentenced for Arson and More

Ludlow, from Lane Avenue, Greenhithe, was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on September 23, 2022, after pleading guilty to arson. He also admitted assault, criminal damage, and breaching a non-molestation order tied to the same victim.

Violent History Behind Bars

  • On January 19, 2022, Ludlow attacked the woman’s home during an argument, throwing a phone that missed her head, smashing a wall, destroying a TV, and ripping off a cupboard door.
  • The victim secured a non-molestation order, which Ludlow later broke twice in April by sending threatening texts.
  • On April 16, while the victim was home with her three children, an explosion shook the building, and her garden shed was engulfed in flames.

Firefighters from Kent Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene to extinguish the blaze. Ludlow was arrested later that night and charged.

Police Speak Out

“Tyrone Ludlow is a dangerous individual who showed no concern for the safety of his victim, her kids, or neighbours when he recklessly caused an explosion,” said Detective Constable Brian Mitchell.

“Offenders like him who put others at risk can expect to lose their freedom. I hope the victim finds some comfort knowing he is now behind bars where he can harm no one else.”
