Drug Dealer and Abuser Marcus Towner Jailed for Over Four Years
Marcus Towner has been slammed with more than four years behind bars after being convicted not only for stalking and abuse but also for dealing drugs worth tens of thousands of pounds.
Relentless Abuse Forced Victim to Hide
Towner first landed in trouble in February 2021, arrested over serious claims of sustained abuse. The victim endured physical attacks and threats against her and her family. An investigation uncovered how Towner’s oppressive behaviour forced her to change jobs and even alter her appearance just to escape his control.
Despite her desperate pleas, the 30-year-old stalker showed up uninvited to her address and left a phone to keep tabs on her—only to use it to hurl vile threats.
Caught Red-Handed with Drugs After Dramatic Police Chase
On 6 April, police raided Towner’s home in Ryarsh, West Malling under the Misuse of Drugs Act. He tried to escape by leaping from a balcony carrying a holdall but was quickly caught by an officer. Inside the bag, officers found 12 bags of cocaine worth almost £17,000 and 47 bags of cannabis valued at over £13,000.
Judge Hands Down Tough Sentence
Facing Maidstone Crown Court, Towner admitted stalking with fear of violence and possession of drugs with intent to supply. A charge of controlling or coercive behaviour was also recorded but left on file. The court sentenced him to four years and two months in prison on 11 October 2022. Once released, Towner will be hit with a five-year restraining order.
“Towner subjected his victim to repeated and sustained psychological abuse… The harassment was relentless and caused huge distress, fear and anxiety,” said Detective Constable Luke Statham of the West Kent Vulnerability Investigation Team. “We applaud the victim’s courage in coming forward and urge anyone suffering abuse to seek support.”
