Swift Arrests After Nighttime Attack
Police have arrested three men following a frightening knife attack on a teenage girl near Morrisons in Bridgwater. The horrific incident happened just after 8 pm on Thursday, sparking an immediate emergency response.
Victim Treated for Neck Injury
The young victim was rushed to hospital by ambulance with a small cut to her neck. Thankfully, doctors confirmed her injury is not life-threatening or expected to cause lasting damage.
Main Suspect in Custody: Racial Abuse Charges Added
Within 20 minutes, officers arrested a 26-year-old man from a Bridgwater address on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent. While in custody, he was also charged with a racially aggravated public order offence after verbally abusing a police officer.
Two More Men Held for Helping Offender
Alongside the main suspect, two other men aged 31 and 37 were detained from the same property on suspicion of assisting an offender. All three remain in custody as the investigation moves forward.
Police Reassure Community as CCTV and Witnesses Being Questioned
Neighbourhood Inspector Michael Griffiths expressed shock over the attack but insisted it appears to be an isolated case. Police have reviewed CCTV footage and identified several witnesses, who are being interviewed to piece together the events.
