A brutal glass bottle attack outside a Birmingham pub has landed one man behind bars and another with a suspended sentence.
Omar Clarke Jailed for Four Years
In a January rampage, 35-year-old Omar Clarke from Beech Dean Grove admitted to causing grievous bodily harm with intent and carrying an offensive weapon in public. On Thursday 26 March, Birmingham Crown Court slammed him with a hefty four-year prison sentence.
Herbert Palmer Gets Off with Suspended Sentence
Pal Clarke’s pal, 59-year-old Herbert Palmer of Parkhouse Drive, pleaded guilty to reckless grievous bodily harm under section 20. He dodged jail but was hit with a 16-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months.
Attack Caught in Shocking CCTV Footage
The shocking assault unfolded on 2 July outside a bustling High Street pub. Police were called after a man was viciously struck with a glass bottle during a chaotic fight.
Officers quickly spotted Clarke and Palmer thanks to CCTV footage and local tip-offs. The video showed the victim attempting to break up a quarrel between Clarke and a woman when Clarke shoved him and smashed the bottle over his head. Palmer then swooped in to join the savage attack.
