Brutal Brawler Michael Irving Jailed for Two Attacks
Unprovoked St Peter’s Street Knockout
Michael Irving, 29, has been locked up for a savage, unprovoked attack on St Peter’s Street last year. In the early hours of Sunday, 14 September, Irving decked a man with a single punch, leaving him unconscious and hospitalised with fractured cheek and nose bones.
Taxi Escape Fails – Police Chase Ends in Arrest
Irving tried to vanish in a taxi to Hatfield Road but was caught on CCTV. Police stopped the cab, but he gave a false name and bolted. A brief foot chase ended with Irving’s capture in a dead-end alley.
On the way to custody, he urinated and spat in the police van. He was charged with grievous bodily harm (GBH) without intent and criminal damage.
Double Assault = Double Jail Time
At St Albans Crown Court, Irving, from Norwich Road, Ipswich, was sentenced to two years for the September attack. He also received 15 months for a separate December 2024 assault in stevenage/" title="Stevenage" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Stevenage, to run concurrently.
Just after midnight on 22 December, Irving attacked a stranger outside the Drapers Arms pub, punching him unconscious. The victim suffered a permanent forehead scar and a broken nose. CCTV captured the vicious assault.
