Knife-Wielding Man Spits in Cop’s Face – Jailed for Over Two Years
A thug caught carrying a knife in an Ashford supermarket turned violent and spat in a police officer’s face after being arrested. Delroy Samuels, 39, has been locked up for two years and four months.
Spat at Officer After Being Caught With Knife
On August 26, 2020, Kent Police were called to a supermarket on Brookfield Road after reports of a man brandishing a knife. Witnesses saw Samuels arguing with a woman before stabbing the blade into a cardboard DVD stand.
Officers found Samuels nearby. Although they didn’t find the knife, he was arrested for being drunk and disorderly, having made death threats to police.
Violence Escalates in Patrol Car
As officers placed him in the police car, Samuels kicked off. He spat directly in an officer’s face and tried to bite him multiple times. Despite being restrained, the troublemaker kept shouting threats and struggling.
Police Send Warning: Assault Cops, Face Jail
Chief Inspector Nick Sparkes said: “It is never acceptable for anyone to abuse or assault our officers as they go about their work keeping the community safe.
“Being assaulted must never be seen as ‘part of the job’ of being a police officer and Kent Police will seek the prosecution of anyone who commits such offences.
“The message from this case is clear; assault our officers and you could end up serving a prison sentence.”
