Man Charged With Murder After Fatal Stabbing in Cullercoats

Police launched a murder investigation after a man was found dead with stab wounds in Cullercoats.

Tragic Discovery on John Street

Officers responded to a welfare concern just before Friday at a property on John Street, Cullercoats. There, they found 45-year-old Lee Santos from Wallsend, suffering injuries consistent with a bladed weapon.

Sadly, Lee was pronounced dead at the scene. His family is being supported by specialist officers.

Suspect Arrested and Charged

A 43-year-old man, Andrew Peacock, also of John Street, Cullercoats, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. He has now been formally charged and remanded in custody.

Andrew Peacock is due to appear before Newcastle magistrates tomorrow.

“With a man now charged in connection with this incident, we ask that everyone avoids any speculation – both out in the community and on social media – that could jeopardise the live legal proceedings,” said Northumbria Police.
