18-Year-Old Arrested Over Kennington Stabbing Murder
Jahreau Shepherd Fatally Stabbed on Black Prince Estate
Detectives have arrested an 18-year-old man suspected of murdering Jahreau Shepherd in Kennington. The arrest came on Thursday, 16 July, after the fatal stabbing on the Black Prince Estate.
Police were called just after 10pm on Saturday, 11 July, to reports of a man stabbed. Officers and paramedics found the victim suffering serious injuries. Despite efforts to save him, the 30-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives believe the victim is Jahreau Shepherd, although formal ID is still pending. His family have been informed.
Second Victim Treated in Hospital
Shortly after the stabbing, a 26-year-old man turned up at hospital with stab wounds linked to the same incident. Fortunately, his injuries are not life-threatening.
Ongoing Murder Probe Underway
Specialist Crime officers, led by DCI Dave Whellams, have launched a murder investigation. The 18-year-old suspect remains in custody awaiting further action.
Earlier on 13 July, another 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder but was later bailed pending inquiries, due in mid-August.
