Convicted Predator Escapes Custody
Detectives have launched a fresh appeal to find 51-year-old James Campbell, a violent sexual offender who vanished after being released from prison in November 2022. Campbell absconded from his approved premises in plymouth/" title="Plymouth" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Plymouth, and his licence has since been revoked.
Known Itinerary and Recent Whereabouts
- 2 February: Traveled by coach from Wales to Birmingham bus station.
- 17 February: Spotted in Middlesbrough in the late afternoon.
- 7 April: Last known location believed to be Berwick-upon-Tweed.
Campbell mainly uses buses and coaches, paying for rides in cash. He’s also been known to use a bicycle and may be living a transient, off-grid lifestyle.
Police Warn: Do Not Approach
Detective Superintendent Sharon Donald, head of the Public Protection Unit, warned: “James Campbell has a history of serious, violent sexual offending. We need to bring him back into police custody immediately.”
She urged anyone spotting Campbell not to confront him but to call 999 right away, quoting incident 123 and Haverford West areas of Wales.
