Devon Man Jailed for Sex Crimes Against Child

A 27-year-old man from Devon has been sentenced to three years behind bars for engaging in sexual activity with a child. Ellis Mace, originally from Bideford, pleaded guilty at Exeter Crown Court to multiple offences involving a person under 18.

Mace admitted to committing penetrative sexual acts with a child on several occasions. Judge David Evans acknowledged the intercourse was consensual but flagged the “significant disparity” in age between Mace and the victim.

Police arrested Mace in 2024, and he openly confessed to the offences. While he had a previously clean record, the judge stressed that his reputation is now permanently damaged.

“Because of your commission of these offences, you will be subject to notification provisions for the foreseeable future,” Judge Evans told Mace.

Defence lawyer Nikki Coombe said Mace “very much regrets” his actions and accepts full responsibility.
