Drunk Mom Sparks Chaos on Southampton Streets – Banned for Two Years!
A mum-of-two drove drunk for two miles on the wrong side of the road through Southampton’s city centre, narrowly avoiding multiple head-on crashes. Now Lauren Gould, 27, faces a two-year driving ban and a suspended jail term.
Drunk Driver’s Deadly Stunt
On December 21 at 2.30am, Gould took a terrifying joyride starting from Southampton Central Train Station. Under the influence of alcohol, she drove five miles in total, with two of those miles on the wrong side of the road. She only stopped when a tanker lorry forced her to halt – after nearly causing two serious head-on collisions.
Judge Slams ‘Appalling’ Driving
At Southampton Crown Court, Judge Peter Henry called her actions “terribly dangerous” and said it was “lucky” no one was hurt in what could have been a fatal disaster. Gould admitted dangerous driving and failing to provide a specimen of breath or blood.
She was sentenced to 10 months in prison, suspended for two years, ordered to complete 180 hours of unpaid work, and hit with rehabilitation requirements. Most notably, she received a two-year driving ban. The judge noted that if it weren’t for her young children, she would have gone straight to jail.
Police Warn Against Risky Driving
“It was extremely lucky no one was injured,” said PC Rebecca Hodge from the Roads Policing Unit. “We hope this sentencing acts as a warning to anyone thinking of risking lives on the road.”
“We are committed to making roads in Hampshire safe for everyone.”
