Shock Murder Rocks Essex Streets: 25-Year-Old Xhovan Pepaj Fatally Injured in Early Hours Attack
Xhovan Pepaj, 25, suffered multiple fatal injuries on Caley Road at 3.15am on 4 December 2021. His death sparked a major police probe by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.
12 Arrested After Brutal Attack
Following the investigation, 12 suspects have been arrested. On Friday 4 February 2022, eight appeared at Maidstone Crown Court, charged with murder, manslaughter, and conspiring to commit robbery. All pleaded not guilty.

- Mohammed Miah, 25, Highfield Road, Romford
- Nathan Turner, 28, Myrtle Road, Brentwood
- Zach Cutting, 23, Roundhills, Waltham Abbey
- Ray Renda, 21, Sandringham Road, Pilgrims Hatch, Brentwood
- Nathan Rainforth, 20, Gloucester Road, Pilgrims Hatch
- A 17-year-old boy from Ilford
All eight were remanded to return for a hearing on 29 April.
More Held on Robbery Charges
Two more men, Bartosz Malawski, 26, of Hainault Road, Romford, and Glen Hough, 51, of Larchwood Gardens, Brentwood, appeared separately charged with conspiring to commit robbery. They remain in custody, due back at Maidstone Crown Court on 14 February.
Meanwhile, a 33-year-old woman and 27-year-old man also arrested remain on police bail as enquiries continue.
