Tragic Death of 20-Year-Old Aalia Mahomed in Aldwych Van Crash

Aalia Mahomed, just 20 years old, has been named as the young woman who lost her life in a fatal collision near The Strand in Aldwych. Her devastated family has paid a heartfelt tribute to their “bright, kind and beautiful soul.”

Van Hits Pedestrians Outside King’s College London

Emergency services rushed to the scene at 11:41am on Tuesday, 18 March, after reports of a van striking pedestrians close to King’s College London’s campus. Despite immediate medical efforts, Aalia was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Family Mourns ‘Ray of Sunshine’

“Aalia was a bright, kind and beautiful soul, who brought joy and laughter to everyone. She was a ray of sunshine in our lives, and will be deeply missed by all her family and friends. Her light will always live on in our memories and her smile will be our strength as we get through this difficult time.”

Others Injured as Driver Arrested for Death by Careless Driving

  • A 27-year-old woman remains in hospital in serious but stable condition.
  • A 23-year-old man who was also hurt has since been discharged.
  • The 26-year-old van driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
  • He faces further suspicion for drug driving offences and has been bailed with strict conditions pending investigation.
