Five Drug Dealers Locked Up for Over 23 Years in Surrey Bust

Five drug dealers have been slammed with hefty prison sentences after pleading guilty to multiple drug offences at Guildford Crown Court. The gang, linked to supplying cocaine, cannabis, and ecstasy, will spend over two decades behind bars collectively.

Sentences Handed Down

  • Carl Garton, 34 from Normandy – 10 years for conspiracy to supply cocaine and cannabis, plus conspiracy to produce cannabis.
  • David Caborn, 44 of Aldershot – 4 years 8 months for conspiracy to supply cocaine and cannabis, and possession with intent to supply ecstasy and cocaine.
  • Darren North, 49 from Aldershot – 3 years 4 months for conspiracy to supply cocaine and cannabis.
  • Michaela Munro, 28 of Normandy – 3 years for conspiracy to supply cocaine.
  • Shannon Garton, 26 of Aldershot – 2 years 3 months for conspiracy to supply cannabis.

Police Nab Gang After Text Message Sting

Surrey Police uncovered the operation back in December 2020 through intercepted text messages tied to drug sales. A search warrant at Carl Garton’s home in March 2021 unearthed cocaine and saw his phone seized, leading police to identify the others involved.

All five suspects were arrested in September 2021. Investigators revealed Carl Garton was the ringleader, with North and Caborn acting as drug runners. Munro helped supply drugs, while Shannon Garton managed day-to-day operations.

Detective Praises Team and Urges Public to Report Drug Activity

Detective Constable Mikki Mayhew said: “This result is a great one for the people of Surrey and for our team. With five organised criminals now off the street, we’re ensuring our communities are safe. We will continue to work hard to stop drug dealing and county lines within Surrey. I would encourage anyone that is concerned about potential drug dealing in their area to report it to us. Each report helps us disrupt potential county lines and keep everyone safe.”
