Folkestone Police Nab Suspect After Car Theft Spree in Cheriton
Two officers from the Folkestone Local Policing Team were out on patrol in the early hours of Thursday, 13 January, after reports of vehicle damage and theft in Broadmead Village and Lancers, Cheriton.
Glove Box Raided in Broad Daylight Attempt
At around 1.40am, Kent Police received a tip-off about an attempted car theft in Gainsborough Close. The glove compartment of a vehicle had been rifled through, sparking alarm in the neighbourhood.
Quick Police Work Leads to Arrest
Officers, who were nearby in Cherry Garden Avenue, quickly zeroed in on a 31-year-old man from Folkestone seen walking suspiciously in the area. They arrested him on suspicion of theft and vehicle interference.
In custody, he was linked to three more thefts, two attempted thefts, and a case of criminal damage in the same area. He has since been released on bail while investigations continue.
