Notorious E-Bike Gang Busted and Jailed for Brutal Mayfair Robbery

A ruthless gang behind a violent e-bike robbery in Mayfair have been slammed with hefty prison sentences at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

Heavy Jail Terms for Four Robbers

  • Alan Kelly, 27, from Islington – 10 years and 9 months.
  • David Kelly, 37, currently at HMP Highdown – 9 years and 8 months.
  • Corrie Moroney, 29, Islington – 9 years.
  • Lewis Sokhi, 28, Islington – 9 years.

The judge slapped Serious Crime Prevention Orders (SCPOs) on the lot, banning them from using e-bikes post-release – the very weapons used to pull off their daring heist.

Brutal Attack in Mayfair Leaves Victim Shaken

On 21 November 2020, just after 7:30pm, a man in his 20s was heading to his car from a Mayfair hotel. Out of nowhere, four men on e-bikes swarmed him.

One launched an attack straight away, with the others joining in, beating the victim to the ground. During the assault, a vicious ‘Rambo knife’ was brandished, terrifying the victim. The gang snatched a £25,000 Rolex and two diamond rings worth £9,000 each before fleeing.

Security tried to step in, but the thieves sped off on their e-bikes. Police search teams scrambled but found no trace at the time.

Flying Squad Cracks Case Despite Masked Suspects

The Flying Squad took charge and zeroed in on the quartet despite face coverings and pandemic restrictions. CCTV and phone records caught the gang together at the Kellys’ home in Islington before heading out.

They first prowled near Harrods, failing to find a victim, before cruising to Mayfair for the brutal hit. Alan Kelly was confirmed as the man wielding the knife.

Three suspects were nabbed in April 2021, all charged and locked up. Alan Kelly also got an extra conviction for conspiring to throw a prohibited item into HMP Pentonville.

DC David Reed Praises Team and Issues Warning

“Targeting violent crime is the absolute top priority for everyone in the Met, so I am very pleased to see these sentences and SCPOs handed down today. We’re determined to do everything we can to keep the public safe by disrupting and deterring high harm offenders,” said DC Reed.

“These results send a clear message to anyone involved in such offences – no matter your tactics, we will investigate, find you, and do everything to make sure you go to prison.”

DC Reed also thanked the victim for his crucial support, highlighting the terrifying ordeal the man faced during the unprovoked attack.
