Teen Thugs Jailed for Brutal Alleyway Attack in Oldham

Two 17-year-old boys have been slammed with 12 months behind bars in a youth detention centre for a savage assault on a fellow teenager. The teens appeared at Manchester Crown Court on Monday after pleading guilty to the attack that rocked the Oldham community.

Planned Attack Leaves Victim Hospitalised

The brutal assault happened in an alley off Featherstall Road North on June 21, 2022. Police investigations reveal the pair came armed, launching a terrifying and premeditated assault that left their victim needing hospital treatment.

Police and Community Crackdown

Oldham’s Chief Superintendent Chris Bowen spoke out after the sentencing: “This was a premeditated and harrowing attack of a young boy who was stripped of his clothes before being badly assaulted by a group of people, which must have been terrifying.”

He added that the violence triggered a string of local disorder, including damage to homes and businesses. “GMP worked around the clock alongside partner agencies and community leaders to stop further trouble and bring those responsible to justice.”

Harsh Warning from the Judge

The judge revealed the offenders would have faced approximately seven years each if tried as adults, highlighting the severity of the crime. Upon release, the teens face a strict programme run by the youth offending team.

“I hope they reflect on their behaviour while away for the next year and use the time to better themselves,” Bowen urged. “Violent crime like this will not be tolerated in our community.”
