Girlfriend Beater Jailed For Seven Years After Wicked Attack

Girlfriend Beater jailed for Seven years after Wicked attack

A woman was left with a broken hand and scarred ear following an attack carried out by a man from Margate. On Saturday 6 January, Kieron McDonald-Gillet, 22, of Canterbury Road threw a can of beer at his former partner so hard that it fractured her hand. The court heard how he then continued to argue with the woman inside a property in Margate before taking a knife from the kitchen drawer and slashing her across the ear. McDonald-Gillet then smashed up items around her home before fleeing the scene. The victim called for an ambulance and reported the attack to Kent Police. McDonald-Gillet was located by officers nearby and arrested. He finally admitted to what he’d done during the trial at Canterbury Crown Court and pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and criminal damage. He was sentenced to seven years and two months in prison at Canterbury Crown Court on Wednesday 1 August 2018. Investigating officers, PC Tony Edwards, said: ‘There is never a reason for anyone to suffer violence like this. ‘McDonald-Gillet is a volatile and aggressive person who intended to hurt his victim that day. He showed absolutely no remorse after leaving her with injuries that have left permanent scars across her face and ear. ‘I hope his lengthy prison sentence sends a strong message that domestic abuse will not be tolerated by Kent Police.’
