Just Stop Oil Activists Charged Over Heathrow Disruption Plot

Ten Just Stop Oil campaigners have been slapped with conspiracy charges after a police crackdown aimed at stopping chaos at Heathrow Airport. The group was arrested on Wednesday, July 24, in a high-profile swoop and appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court accused of plotting to disrupt a vital national hub under Section 7 of the Public Order Act 2003.

Intelligence-Led Bust at Heathrow

The suspects were nabbed either at Heathrow itself or nearby, as police executed a carefully planned intelligence-led operation. Their goal? To prevent any interference with operations at the UK’s busiest airport.

Eight Held in Custody, Two Released on Bail

The court remanded eight activists in custody, including:

  • Sally Davidson, 36, Easton Street, Portland
  • Adam Beard, 55, Stanton Road, Stroud
  • Rosa Hicks, 28, Buxton Road, Stratford
  • Rory Wilson, 26, Lipton Road, Tower Hamlets
  • Luke Elson, 31, Buxton Road, Stratford
  • Luke Watson, 34, The Street, Manuden
  • Sean O’Callaghan, 29, Old London Road, Mickleham
  • Hannah Schafer, 60, Tanygroes, Ceredigion

Meanwhile, two others were granted bail with strict conditions barring them from coming within 1km of any airport unless holding a valid travel ticket:

  • Julia Mercer, 74, Beaumont Street, Calderdale
  • William Goldring, 27, Rye Lane, Southwark

Tensions Rise Between Activists and Authorities

The arrests highlight ongoing friction as environmental activists take aim at critical transport links, causing headaches for security and airport operations. Authorities remain on high alert amid fears that such disruptions could escalate.

All ten defendants are expected back in court as legal battles ramp up over these controversial protests.
