Life Behind Bars for Caravan Site Killer

Dumitru Palazu has been handed life imprisonment for the brutal murder of 30-year-old Alexandru Constantinescu at a caravan site in Dunkirk, near Faversham. The shocking killing took place in April 2019 after a tense altercation at the Gate Hill caravan park.

Cold-Blooded Stab Attack Caught on Camera

The 48-year-old, from Gate Hill, denied the murder but was found guilty at Maidstone Crown Court on November 12, 2019. He received a minimum 30-year sentence, ensuring he’ll spend decades behind bars.

On the evening of April 7, just after 7pm, tensions flared between Alexandru and a group of men. While Alexandru was speaking to one man, Palazu suddenly charged 35 metres across the site and plunged a knife under his armpit. The single stab proved fatal.

Despite emergency treatment at the scene, Alexandru died within the hour. Witnesses filmed Palazu pacing nervously along the nearby A2 central reservation straight after the attack before he vanished.

Police Praise Evidence That Sealed The Case

Palazu surrendered to officers the next evening and has been locked up ever since. Detective Constable Simon Williams of Kent’s Serious Crime Directorate said:

“Palazu was not involved in the disturbance but chose to deliberately target the victim. Video footage clearly shows him making a precise stabbing motion with a knife toward a vulnerable part of the body. His intention was murder, plain and simple. I’m glad justice has been served.”

This chilling case reminds us how quickly a violent flare-up can turn deadly—even in a peaceful caravan park.
