Lorry Driver Jailed After Crashing Garden Wall Three Times Over Drink-Drive Limit
A lorry driver smashed into a garden wall while being more than three times over the drink-drive limit. Krystian Malkowski, 43, of no fixed address, was handed 14 months behind bars and banned from driving for three years and seven months.
Crash Near Miss on Busy Rush Hour
The terrifying crash happened on Radcliffe Road, West Bridgford, during the evening rush on 19 December 2019. Malkowski’s large transporter narrowly missed other vehicles when it ploughed into the garden wall. Police arrested him at the scene around 6pm after a roadside breath test revealed a staggering 139 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath—well over the legal limit.
Miraculously, no one was hurt, but the road was briefly closed while officers dealt with the aftermath.
Police Warn: Drink-Driving Will Not Be Tolerated
“Malkowski is very lucky that no one was seriously hurt or killed, including himself,” said Police Constable Marsh. “Just one drink or drug driver on Nottinghamshire’s roads is one too many. Our message is simple: drink and drug drivers will not be tolerated on our county’s roads.”
He added: “Driving under the influence is always a serious danger. At Christmas, the risks soar with darker nights, bad weather and more people tempting fate by drinking or using drugs and then getting behind the wheel.”
Force Takes Hard Line on Drink-Drivers
Nottinghamshire Police are sending a clear message. They will take tough action to keep roads safe and hold reckless drivers to account.
