Locked Up After Trying Car Doors in the Dead of Night
Jayden Marriott, 23, was caught red-handed at 3am in Bestwood, Nottinghamshire. Police spotted him trying car doors on a freezing early Sunday morning. When officers arrived, Marriott was found hiding behind a bush, a cigarette dangling from his mouth, claiming he was “just trying to get some sleep.”
Creative Excuse Falls Flat
Marriott’s sleepy tale didn’t fool anyone. Fresh out of prison, he faced Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday where he admitted guilt for vehicle interference. The judge wasn’t impressed and handed him a three-week jail sentence.
Police Snap Up the Truth
“As police officers we’re often treated to creative and incredible accounts, and this was no different,” said PC Abby Mason, Nottinghamshire Police. “Fortunately, local camera footage proved beyond doubt that Marriott was our man, exposing his story as pure fiction.”
Despite his bizarre claim, Marriott’s attempt to break into multiple cars on a chilly night was caught on camera — and landed him back behind bars.
