Police Hunt Suspects and Dark Mercedes
Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims pleaded with the public for information: “We urge anyone with details to come forward so we can bring those responsible to justice. She should have had her whole life ahead of her.”
Detective Superintendent Sue Coombs added the victim wasn’t targeted and was enjoying a peaceful Christmas night. She said investigators are looking into the motive and a dark-colored car, possibly an A-Class Mercedes, seen leaving the pub car park minutes after the shooting.
Community in Shock After Tragedy
The Lighthouse pub described the shooting as a “tragedy beyond any words”. Wirral Council leader Janette Williamson called it “despicable,” while Wallasey MP Dame Angela Eagle labelled it “heartbreaking”. Both urged anyone with info to contact police immediately.
A local 77-year-old neighbour, who mistook gunshots for Christmas fireworks, said: “My sister’s garden was broken into that night. We suspect people tried to escape the pub by climbing over the wall into her garden.”
The police investigation is ongoing as the community reels from this devastating Christmas night attack.
