Father Kills Three Sons Before Taking His Own Life in Surrey Tragedy
A mother is facing an unimaginable nightmare after her three young sons were murdered by their father, who then ended his own life. The grim discovery was made over the weekend at the family home in Staines-upon-Thames, Surrey.
Family Devastated as Mental Health Concerns Raised
Piotr Swiderski, 31, and his children — three-year-old Dominik and two-year-old twins Nikodem and Kacper — were found dead, in what police describe as a “triple-murder-suicide.” Angelika Swiderska, Piotr’s wife and mother to the boys, is said to be devastated and is being comforted by relatives. Neighbours revealed Angelika had expressed worries about Piotr’s mental health, describing him as “depressed.”
Angelika, who runs a local cake business called Panda Sweet Corner, had recently returned from a trip to Poland. Upon her return, she spoke of her husband’s ongoing battle with depression.
Police Prior Contact and Ongoing Investigation
Surrey Police confirmed they had previous contact with the family in August 2023 and have referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) for review. A thorough investigation is underway, with post-mortem examinations scheduled. Police have ruled out third-party involvement but have yet to reveal the exact causes of death.
Community Mourns, Tributes Poured In
Neighbours reported hearing “loud screams” at around 1 p.m. on Saturday, just before emergency services arrived at the Bremer Road home. Heartfelt tributes — including flowers, sunflowers, candles, and teddy bears — have been left outside the property.
Angelika said in a statement issued via Surrey Police: “Piotr was an amazing husband and father to Kacper, Nikodem, and Dominik. He loved us with all his heart and would have done anything for us. The children doted on their daddy. Our boys were happy, active children, full of life and happiness. They were always smiling, and even when I looked sad, they would say, ‘Mummy, smile like us.’”
She added, “We are grieving for them all and would like to ask for privacy as we try to understand why this tragedy happened. I would like to say a huge thank you to all our community for the messages of condolence, flowers, cards, and teddy bears.”
Happy Family Life Shattered
The family, who had moved into their Staines home less than a year ago, were known in the area. The boys attended a nearby Catholic school, and neighbours recall hearing the children’s laughter from the garden. One resident said: “Recently, there were BBQs and lots of adult laughter… although their garden backs onto mine, I didn’t know them well. I would hear the children laughing and playing.”
Piotr had worked at his brother-in-law’s mobile tyre replacement business in Slough but left several months ago. The local community now grapples with this horrific loss, as the police continue their investigation.
