Unlicensed Dog Breeder Nicola Palmer Busted in Ipswich
Nicola Palmer from Kesgrave, Ipswich, has been convicted for illegally breeding dogs. The unlicensed breeder was first accused of dog theft after breaking her adoption agreement with Phoenix Rehoming.
Breeding Breach After Adoption
Palmer adopted dogs from Phoenix Rehoming but went on to breed them, which was strictly against the adoption terms. She claimed the pregnancy was accidental. However, she ignored appeals to rehome the puppies responsibly.
Puppies Sold Online for £300 Each
Instead of finding vetted homes, Palmer sold the puppies online as “Italian whippet crosses” for £300 a pop. Phoenix Rehoming, backed by Animal Protection Services, took her to court over the illegal breeding.
Light Sentence for Serious Offence
This week, Palmer was convicted of breeding dogs without a licence. She received a conditional discharge and was ordered to pay just £251 towards court costs.
