Elderly Cyclist Dies After Mysterious Head Injury in Danbury

Man Found Injured by Roadside

An 85-year-old cyclist was discovered with a serious head injury beside his bike on The Ridge, near Fir Tree Lane in Danbury, at 3.15pm on Friday, November 13.

He was rushed to Addenbrookes Hospital but sadly passed away the following day.

Police Investigate Unexplained Accident

Essex Police have launched an investigation but have no clear idea yet how the man was hurt.

Sgt Alex Black of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Nothing suggests he was hit by a vehicle or that any other vehicle was involved, but we must keep an open mind.”

Witness Appeal as Schools Nearby

The incident happened at school-run time with several schools nearby.

The police want anyone who saw the man cycling or anything suspicious in the area to come forward.
