Ex-Cop Jailed for Sex on Duty After Turning Off Body Cam!
Shocking Abuse of Power in Widnes
Jordan Masterson, 28, has been locked up for three and a half years after having sex with a woman while on duty in Widnes, Cheshire. The former police officer switched off his body camera before the shocking incident on December 28, 2021 — while responding to a 999 call at the woman’s home.
Judge Slams ‘Gross Breach of Trust’
During the trial at Chester Crown Court, Masterson claimed he felt “powerless” during the encounter. But Judge Michael Leeming tore into the ex-officer’s excuses, calling the actions a “gross breach of trust.”
“The public expects police officers to uphold the highest standards of integrity,” Judge Leeming said, condemning Masterson for exploiting the woman for his own sexual gratification.
Indefinite Restraining Order and Police Bar
Besides his prison sentence, Masterson was slapped with an indefinite restraining order, banning any contact with the victim, known only as “female G”. His lawyer cited childhood trauma and mental health struggles as mitigating factors, but the court stood firm.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) regional director, Catherine Bates, blasted Masterson’s behaviour as utterly unacceptable for anyone in law enforcement. Already resigned, Masterson has been put on the barred list — effectively ending his policing career for good.
Warning to All in Uniform
This case sends a stark message about the vital need for professionalism in the police force. It also highlights the courage of the victim who came forward, demanding justice and accountability in the justice system.
