Career crook Nicky Russell has finally been locked up for six years and four months for a spree of break-ins and handling stolen goods.

Burglaries Across Gosport

  • In the early hours of 27 March, he hit two homes on Shaftesbury Road. Stolen loot included a Samsung mobile, Playstation 4, handbag, wallet, iPhone, Nokia phone, and car keys.
  • He attempted another burglary on Woodstock Road on 26 March but failed to get in.
  • On 1 July, officers found him with stolen suitcase and a grey man bag, which he admitted knowing were stolen.

Judge Brands Russell ‘Professional Thief’

At Portsmouth Crown Court, 40-year-old Russell also had 12 other burglaries, a bike theft, and criminal damage counted against him. The judge slammed him as a “professional burglar and thief” before handing down the hefty sentence.

During an earlier hearing, Russell broke down in tears as a victim described the emotional toll of his crimes.

Police Praise the Verdict

PC Nick Jackson of Operation Hawk said: “This is a fantastic result for the community. Russell caused misery to countless people with his selfish criminality.”

“I hope this brings closure to victims and reassures the public that we’re dedicated to catching those who harm our communities and ensuring they face justice.”
