Swindon Man Busted After Drink-Spiking Scare

A man was arrested in Swindon after staff spotted a drink had been spiked at a town centre pub.

Quick-Thinking Staff Prevented Potential Horror

In the early hours of Sunday (13/8), officers were called to a licensed venue on Bridge Street following concerns a drink was tampered with. Thanks to sharp staff who refused to let the drink be consumed, a test revealed it contained a prohibited substance.

Man Arrested on Suspicion of Attempted Drugging

Police arrested a local man in his 40s on suspicion of administering a drug with intent to stupefy or overpower someone to facilitate sexual activity. He has since been released on bail while inquiries continue.

PC Alex Jenkins said: “We are committed to robustly tackling all forms of criminality to ensure everyone feels safe on a night out. I want to praise the venue staff who acted swiftly to protect the victim and reported it immediately. Please never leave your drinks unattended, and if you suspect your drink has been tampered with, alert venue staff straight away.”
