Three Brutal Killers Found Guilty of Stabbing Young Man to Death in Barking

Cold-Blooded Attack in Barking

Three men have been convicted of a savage, premeditated murder in Barking. Jonathan Mulangala, 22, Iki Mohammed Ali, 24, and Syed Fahad, 23, were found guilty at the Old Bailey for killing 23-year-old Abdulrahman Nassor Juma.

Mulangala was also convicted of attempted murder in a separate 2018 case. Sentencing is set for Monday, 22 July.

Horrific Stabbing Details Revealed

The horrific attack happened on the night of 17 May 2018. Abdulrahman – known as Mani to friends – was stabbed 18 times after two men jumped out of a white BMW outside his flat in Harts Lane.

He tried to flee barefoot after kicking off his flip-flops, but the assailants chased him down and continued stabbing. Medics and police rushed to the scene, but Mani died at once from wounds to his chest and abdomen.

Forensic experts revealed the use of multiple knives during the attack, highlighting the brutal nature of the assault.

Quick Escape, Relentless Police Hunt

During the attack, the driver and passenger turned the BMW around for a speedy getaway. They fled just minutes after the stabbing.

Police combed mobile phone data and CCTV, linking Mulangala, Ali and Fahad to the crime. Ali was arrested first on 1 June 2018, Fahad – who fled the country – was caught on 2 July, and Mulangala was picked up on 25 July.

Investigation and Community Support

“This was a deliberate, savage, targeted attack on a young man who was simply standing in the street minding his own business,” said Detective Inspector Rita Tierney.

“Thanks to the tireless police work and community information, we proved these men planned and executed this vicious assault. They showed no remorse and will face substantial jail time.”

Mani’s father thanked the police for their efforts, saying, “We as a family are truly grateful.”

Another Man Charged

Meanwhile, a 23-year-old man has also been charged with the murder. His trial date has yet to be set.
