Two Charged Over Spate of Car Thefts
Margate police have charged two suspects after a string of thefts targeting cars. Christopher Bygrave, 31, from Selborne Road, stands accused of nicking stolen goods including sat navs and earrings across several locations. His alleged crimes all happened between February 9 and 10, 2020.
Bygrave’s Crime Spree
- Theft of a sat nav on Tivoli Road
- Theft of earrings, sat nav, and other items on Marlborough Road
- Theft of a sat nav in Canterbury Road area
- Plus possession of a knife in Broadstairs on February 10
- Theft of lead in Laleham Walk on February 4
Bygrave appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on February 12 and remains in custody. His next court date is set for March 16 at Canterbury Crown Court.
Accomplice Also Bailed
Catherine Avery, 48, of no fixed abode, faces charges of handling stolen goods connected to the Marlborough Road thefts. She’s been bailed to appear at Margate Magistrates’ Court on March 17.
Youth Arrested in Vehicle Interference Probe
Separately, a 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of tampering with vehicles in Ramsgate’s Harbour Parade on February 11. He’s currently on police bail until March 3.
