Just Stop Oil Protesters Jailed for April Oil Depot Blockades
Two Just Stop Oil activists have been locked up for crashing a massive blockade of 10 oil depots on April 1st. The protest joined forces with Extinction Rebellion to demand an end to new oil and gas projects across the UK.
Sentences Handed Out: Luton Man Gets 28 Days, Telford Pensioner 21
El Litten, 35, from Luton, was sentenced to 28 days for aggravated trespass. Barry Mitchell, 74, from Telford, received 21 days behind bars. Both had already done time earlier this year for Just Stop Oil actions.
M25 Protesters Appear in Court After Four-Day Blockade
Seven Just Stop Oil supporters arrested during November’s four-day M25 blockade faced Guildford and maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone Crown Courts today. Isabel Rock, 41, was granted bail after being on remand for 30 days. Phoebe Plummer, 21, appeared via video link and was also released after 29 days in Bronzefield prison.
Over 700 Arrests in Six Weeks of Disruptions
Just Stop Oil’s relentless civil disobedience in October and November led to over 700 arrests. Since April 1st, more than 2,000 supporters have been detained, with 24 still behind bars.
