Two men charged with double murder and attempted murder after Henley Road shooting
Gun Violence Rocks Newham and Enfield
Zain Mirza, 20, of Third Avenue, Newham, and Mahad Gouled, 21, of Charles Street, Enfield, appeared at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 29 November. They face two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. Both men were remanded in custody and will return to court on 10 February 2023.
Fatal Shooting in Henley Road
The drama unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday, 25 October. At 12:16am, the ambulance service was called to a house on Henley Road following reports of a shooting. Armed police and paramedics arrived to find three men with gunshot wounds.
- Saydi Abu Sheikh, 23, from Ilford
- Zakariya Jeilani Mohamed, 32, also from Ilford
Tragically, both men died at the scene. A third victim, a 30-year-old man, was rushed to hospital with serious but stable injuries. Specialist officers are supporting the families of all three men.
Additional Suspects Charged
Earlier arrests saw two more men charged in connection with the case. Ayaani Ali Adan, 19, of East Street, Barking, and Ayman Abasheikh, 18, of Stratton Road, Romford, were arrested on Friday, 11 November. Their charges are loaded:
- Two counts of murder
- One count of attempted murder
- Possession with intent to supply a Class B drug
- Possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life
- Possession of a knife in public
- Possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate
Both men appeared at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, 16 November, and were remanded in custody ahead of their next hearing on 14 December.
