Two Men Jailed for Raping Teen in Heckmondwike and Dewsbury
Khurum Raziq from Heckmondwike and Nasar Hussain from Dewsbury were sentenced at Leeds Crown Court on Friday. Both men were found guilty of multiple rapes against a young girl in the North Kirklees area.
Horrific Abuse Spanning Years
The offences were uncovered during a long-running investigation by Kirklees Police and partners into the sexual abuse of girls in North Kirklees between 1999 and 2012. The victim in this case suffered abuse from 2003 to 2005, starting when she was just 12 years old.
Long Sentences for Predators
- Raziq was jailed for 22 years for eight rape offences.
- Hussain received 18 years after being found guilty of three rapes.
Leeds Crown Court heard Raziq met the victim when she was 12 and subjected her to multiple rapes. Hussain was introduced to her by another girl around 2004 or 2005, groomed her, and then committed sexual offences. Shockingly, Hussain even picked the victim up from school while she wore her uniform, showing blatant disregard for her age.
Detective Condemns ‘Appalling’ Abuse
DCI Ian Thornes of Kirklees CID said: “The victim in this case was a young girl with a completely normal life whose childhood was ripped away the moment she was first introduced to Khurum Raziq. That contact led her to be lured into a world in which she was thoroughly abused and exploited by predatory males who treated her in the most appalling fashion.
“Hussain even picked her up from school while she was in school uniform, making it very clear he knew she was just a child who he was committing serious sexual offences against.”
