A woman has been charged after a man was fatally mauled by a dangerously out-of-control dog in Stratford.

Fatal Dog Attack in Stratford

At 4:53 AM on Wednesday, 4 December, police rushed to Shirley Road, Stratford, following reports of a serious dog attack. A 42-year-old man was found with severe injuries and was taken to hospital, but tragically died.

The victim’s family have been informed, and a post-mortem is underway.

Woman Charged Over Deadly Attack

Leanne McDonnell, 32, from Shirley Road, Stratford, was arrested and now faces multiple charges:

  • Owning a dog dangerously out of control causing injury resulting in death
  • Failing to ensure the welfare of the animal
  • Having custody of a fighting dog
  • Three counts of owning a dog dangerously out of control causing no injury related to a separate incident on 18 November 2024

McDonnell remains in custody and is set to appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 6 December 2024.

The dog involved has been seized by police. Authorities have not revealed the breed but confirmed it was linked to several incidents, including the fatal attack.
