Woman Dragged Into Alleyway and Assaulted in Middleton

A woman in her 20s was dragged into an alleyway and assaulted on Grimshaw Lane, Middleton, at around 10.35pm on Sunday, 25 October 2020. The attacker grabbed her before dragging her into a nearby alley, but she managed to break free and scream for help.

Suspect Flees, But Arrest Made

Thankfully, the victim was not physically injured but was left shaken by the ordeal. The man fled on foot towards a nearby field. Fast forward to Friday, 6 November, police arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of sexual assault. He is currently held in custody for questioning.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

“This incident was traumatising for the victim. Officers and partner agencies are continuing to offer her support,” said DC Melanie Jeffery of GMP’s Rochdale district.

She added: “We have a suspect in custody, but our investigation continues. Anyone with information should get in touch.”
