£20k Reward on Offer as Police Renew Hunt for Bethnal Green Gunman on Shooting Anniversary
Detectives are turning up the heat a year after the brutal shooting of 31-year-old Joshua McLean in Weavers Fields, Bethnal Green. On 6 August 2024, Joshua was found fatally shot in the chest, despite emergency crews rushing to the scene.
The Met has now released fresh CCTV footage showing Joshua walking with friends along Bethnal Green Road just an hour before the shooting. Police believe locals might be sitting on crucial info that could crack the case.
“We think people know who did this but haven’t spoken up. Now is the time to come forward,” said Detective Inspector Newell.
£20,000 Reward to Catch Killer
An independent group, 123, has slapped a hefty £20,000 reward on the table for info leading to an arrest. Detectives will soon be handing out leaflets in Bethnal Green, hoping someone will finally break their silence.
Crimestoppers Urges Locals: “Speak Up – Stay Anonymous”
Alexa Loukas, London Regional Manager for Crimestoppers, pressed the public to overcome fear.
“We know people might be scared of reprisals. Crimestoppers offers a safe, anonymous way to tip us off. We don’t ask for names and can’t trace calls or IP addresses,” she said.
“This was a shocking daylight shooting in a busy park. Joshua’s family deserve answers. Your tip could be the key to justice.”
