Armed Police Storm Heathrow Terminal 3 Car Park in Early Morning Incident

Armed officers swarmed Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 3 multi-storey car park at dawn following a major violent outbreak. Reports say a gang sprayed several people with what is believed to be pepper spray before fleeing the scene.

The Met Police arrested one man at 8:11am on suspicion of assault. He remains in custody as detectives piece together the chaotic morning.

Transport Chaos Sparks Massive Delays Across Heathrow

Heathrow tunnels shut tight, sparking gridlock on roads and rails. The London Underground and Elizabeth Line ground to a halt, scrapping services through Heathrow and routes from Shenfield to Abbey Wood, and Terminal 4 to 5.

Heathrow Express trains between Paddington and Terminal 5 also came to a halt. Bus drivers were ordered to stay put inside the station, with the short stay car park entrance blocked, causing colossal traffic jams. The M4 southbound spur to Heathrow was closed as police scrambled to respond.

National Rail later reopened lines but warned of ongoing delays and cancellations until midday. Heathrow urged travellers to allow extra time and check with airlines before heading out.

Police and Emergency Services Keep Tight Lid on Incident

“Police are in attendance at Heathrow Airport while we investigate the circumstances around the assault of a number of people this morning,” said a Met Police spokesperson.

“Officers responded quickly. There will be an increased police presence throughout the morning to ensure public safety. This is not being treated as a terrorist incident.”

Commander Peter Stevens added, “We believe the incident involved a group known to each other, with a heated argument leading to injuries.”

Heathrow said: “Our teams are responding alongside emergency services in Terminal 3. We will update shortly.”

London Fire Brigade confirmed firefighters remain at the scene, with London Ambulance Service treating victims before hospital transfers. Thankfully, injuries aren’t believed life-threatening.

One driver stuck in the chaos vented online: “Who knows what’s happening at Heathrow T3, stuck here for nearly an hour with armed police searching every car about.”
