Stolen Car Chase Sparks Chaos on Shooters Hill
A 30-year-old man was arrested after a high-speed police pursuit of a stolen car caused major disruption in Shooters Hill on Sunday, December 29.
Police Hunt Ends in Arrest
The drama kicked off at 11:15 AM when officers spotted the stolen vehicle near Shooters Hill Road, SE18. The driver refused to stop, sparking a tense chase.
Road Closures and Traffic Nightmare
The pursuit forced authorities to shut down the A207 Shooters Hill Road both ways between the Sun in the Sands roundabout (A102 Blackwall Tunnel Approach) and Old Dover Road (B211).
Bus routes 89, 178, and 386 were diverted, and heavy traffic snarled the area. Motorists were urged to find alternate routes while police dealt with the situation.
Suspect Caught and Charged
The chase ended with the suspect in custody, facing charges for traffic offences and possession of an offensive weapon.
“On Sunday, 29 December at 11:15hrs police were made aware that a car had been stolen. Officers located the vehicle and attempted to stop it near Shooters Hill Road, SE18,” said a Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
“A 30-year-old man was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon and traffic offences. Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
