Bembridge Lifeboat Scrambles Over Mystery Debris on Solent Shore
Quick Launch After Debris Sighting
The Bembridge lifeboat launched just after 3:30pm on Wednesday, January 4th, responding to reports of debris washing up along the Solent shoreline. While details on the exact nature of the mission were sparse, it is believed a dinghy hull was recovered during the operation.
Coastguard Confirms Debris Investigation
A UK Coastguard spokesperson revealed, “Solent Coastguard requested the launch of the Bembridge RNLI Inshore Lifeboat at around 3:45pm to check out reports of floating debris between the lifeboat and coastguard stations.”
Debris Identified, Lifeboat Stand Down
The crew quickly located the source — a partial dinghy hull. They joined forces with Coastguard officers at Paddock Drive to haul the wreckage ashore. Both the lifeboat and Coastguard were stood down after confirming the debris came from a dinghy broken up in a storm weeks ago.
