Police Hunt Driver Who Sped Past After Cyclist Crash in Fareham
Police are on the lookout for a driver who may hold crucial information after a cyclist came off his bike in Fareham last Friday evening.
Cyclist Loses Control on Highlands Road
At around 7.50pm on June 10, a 22-year-old man was cycling along Highlands Road heading towards the A27 when he suddenly fell off his bike. A small black car, travelling in the same direction, swerved and sped past the scene.
Driver May Have Witnessed Accident
Although the car is not believed to have made contact with the cyclist, police think the driver might have seen exactly what caused the fall. The cyclist was knocked unconscious for a few minutes and suffered injuries to his arms and legs.
Urgent Call for Witnesses
The injured man was rushed to Queen Alexandra Hospital by ambulance. PC Jim Chapman said: “We do not believe the vehicle and the cyclist came into contact with one another. However, the car was being driven at the time the cyclist came off his bike, so we think anyone in that car would have witnessed what happened and why the cyclist came off his bike.”
He urged: “If you saw what happened or if you are the driver of this vehicle, please get in touch with us and tell us what you saw.”
