Masked mugger targets Folkestone jogger and pensioner in brazen attempted robberies

Two robberies in 5 minutes on Cheriton High Street

Detectives are hunting a tall masked man after two shocking attempted robberies on Folkestone’s Cheriton High Street.

The first attack happened at 8pm on Monday, January 23, 2023. A jogger was confronted by the suspect who demanded cash. The victim refused and escaped unscathed.

Same man targets elderly passer-by shortly after

Just five minutes later, a man in his sixties was approached in the same spot. Again, the suspect tried to rob him but fled when refused.

What investigators say about the suspect

  • Over 6 feet tall
  • Wearing blue jeans
  • Green jacket
  • Black balaclava or face covering
